Invisible Waves: Phil Coy & Malevich

Last Friday found me getting a ludicrously early train from Waterloo down to Southampton to hang out on a school playing field with 18 year 9 pupils, artist Phil Coy and many metres2 of black plastic. I was there to document the final stages of Phil Coy’s work with Hounsdown School on the Invisible Waves project, titled #blackspot, and also work with Phil to film what would become his final piece.  Phil worked with the young people to re-imagine Kazimir Malevich’s Black Spot piece, whilst linking into his own earlier body of work surrounding pixels and the work of Dr Hugh Mortimer at RAL.  The work will be exhibited online, so keep an eye out for #blackspot
